Homestead Farms

March 19, 2013

If you know me personally, you know that I love Homestead Farms (4160 Keller Hicks Rd, Keller, 76244)!  Spending a pocket of your day there is good for the soul I tell ya.

Michael and Sarah (and their adorable daughter Samantha Jo) are committed to providing customers from the community with locally sourced items like raw honey, a small selection of organic produce, granola, free range beef, chicken, pork, eggs, and several other little treasures in their charming, earthy store which is open from 2-7pm Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays from 9am to 5pm.  The biggest draw for me is their fresh, Grade A raw goat milk which I have been giving to my kids off and on since Noah was 14 months old.  If you are curious about the benefits of goat milk, check out *this link.

And if you find yourself indoors on a pretty day, go visit your local farm!  Buy a little something from the store and play with Boo Radley and Scout, the farm dogs, say hello to the chickens, rabbits, and goats, and stay awhile to enjoy the fresh air.  I promise you won’t regret it! They also have a little swingset for your kids to play on. Check the website for fun events for the entire family.  It’s a wonderful place to have birthday parties for your kiddos! Here are some photos from my Noah’s two year old party for your enjoyment!

*Our family care doctor recommended raw goat milk for Noah at age 14 months because he was habitually ill with respiratory issues his first year of life and had a sensitivity to pasteurized milk.  He has also recommended it for supplementing when needed with my nine month old with the addition of an iron and folic acid supplement. I know raw milk is controversial, this is what works for our family.
