Hi friends, I am so incredibly excited to share my new blog layout designed by my dear friend Tom Boto! His wife Julie is one of my best and dearest friends and at dinner a few nights ago he offered to help me with my blog (since I’m not so tech savvy) and I said YES! When he sent me my new set up I was completely floored. So thanks Tom and Julie for believing in me and inspiring me to continue on this real food journey!
I chose the name Real Mom Real Food because I am just a normal, suburban mom trying to figure out how to best take care of my little family. I also discovered that there is another amazing site with basically my old blog name:o)! Check out Real Food Fort Worth and you will find some amazing places to get local, organic, unprocessed food. I still plan to visit all of these places and report my thoughts back to you! There is also a facebook page that I found a few days ago called Real Food Fort Worth (it is informative and helpful too!)! I am switching my facebook group name to Real Mom Real Food to not cause any confusion between the two groups.
I’m excited about this new endeavor and I’m a little addicted to learning new things about nutrition every day. I also sometimes lay in bed at night wondering about other moms just like me who are on this journey of trying to avoid genetically engineered food and choose real food for their families. If you are a real food mom I’d love to feature you, a favorite recipe of yours, and your story. We need each other to make a difference in our children’s lives. We need to know we are not alone. And we need to help each other!
The link below is a video that changed my life. I know that is a dramatic statement, but I was always the mom who said “I ate this stuff when I was little and I turned out okay”….well, what I found out in this video opened my eyes to the fact that the food our children are eating today is definitely not the same food we ate as children in the mid 80s to mid 90s. Genetically engineered crops were not invented and placed in the marketplace until the mid to late 90s. They have now overtaken our food industry. Go ahead, look in your pantry. I guarantee you the majority of your packaged food have soy (most likely in the form of soy lecithin… soy is in everything!!!) or corn (do you have any chips? popcorn? canned corn?) in their lengthy ingredients list. You are going to want to sit down and take the time to watch this video. If you have a spouse, watch it together. It is an hour long, just to warn you (and stick with it, there is hope at the end).
